Within the framework of communication today, we reach through technological facilitators to connect in "real time" immediacy. These "social tools", however, allow room for error as our messages are filtered through many points. The idea that we are different bodies brings an impossibility of merging, transcendence and complete unity of understanding between two beings. While this is a seemingly nihilistic point of view, Wong is not interested in pointing out the futility of human relationships, but in pushing us to appreciate what few points of linkage we do share.
In her work, she simultaneously self-glorifies and self-effaces, rewriting a history that weaves personal narrative with fiction. Though many of her works use popular culture and technology as a disguise, her position within the new media vacuum is not one of a knowledgeable technician, but of someone trying to uncover the vulnerability that lies within it.
